Go on, feel like a hero and move your mouse around on that video up top. Yeah, you’re inside the barrel.
GoPro are coming out swinging with their latest gadget, a new VR camera that will be launched at this week’s National Association of Broadcasters in Las Vegas.
All the details on that release from Mashable:
…GoPro will show off its new Omni VR camera, which features six synchronized cameras in what the company calls a spherical array, but the housing itself looks more like a rounded square.
The six Hero4 cameras, plus the aluminum rig, which is lightweight and made for action shots, will be offered for $4,999 [R73 700] and will allow users to capture 8K video.
Other brands have attempted to drum up interest in VR content with little success, but many believe that GoPro’s assocation with the likes of skateboarding and surfing could see it make the leap to mainstream.
If you have R70k or so to throw around we’ll happily show your VR videos, but for the rest of you just enjoy cruising on that wave in Tahiti for now.
