I guess that’s the thing about helmets, they’re great for protecting the back of the head but your face is still fair game.
Italian cyclist Fabio Felline had just crossed the starting line of the Amstel Gold Race in Holland when things went pear-shaped, his crash leaving him with a broken nose and an early withdrawal from the race.
Here’s the Telegraph:
It appears as if Felline’s fall had something to do with the front wheel of his bike jamming.
The cyclist looked to be reaching down to his wheel shortly before he slams to a stop and is thrown over the handlebars.
According to his team leader, Felline was taken to hospital and received surgery and is expected to leave today.
His nose will one day heal but the footage will live on forever.
