Once you have your business location down you can’t just throw up your hands, sit back and think that the masses are going to enter your premises while demanding your services.

You need to put in the effort – and the best kind of effort is human interaction, as MD of Vespa Andy Reid suggests.

Technology enables us to be more efficient, but it shouldn’t define the sale experience. We’re fully equipped with what we need to acquire a customer – our five senses.

Forgot about those, didn’t you? It’s no surprise since technological communication has taken the human out of the situation, replacing them with robots and machines.

Andy gives us five tips on how to harness those senses, so that a natural, positive interaction attracts a genuine interest.

    Stir Up A Feeling

Great people with a warm, firm handshake to establish a senses of trust, suggests Andy. Then, feed off this to guide your conversation. Be genuine and sincere, caring about what the other person has to say.

    Listen Up

When a customer comes into your space, you should listen twice as much as you speak. Direct the conversation towards them, finding out who they are and what they are looking for. Not only will they appreciate this, but they will be more open to hearing what it is you have to offer.

    See It Through

Eye contact is so important. During a conversation, maintaining eye contact is a key way for you to understand what it is your customer is feeling when they respond to what you are saying. Body language is also key, and leaning in slightly shows you are actively listening. Nod and smile sincerely to let the person know you’re on their side.

    Beyond Just A Taste

Offering a customer something to eat or drink not only helps makes the atmosphere of the meeting more comfortable, but slows down the rate of the interaction. What follows is a more authentic conversation at a real pace. If you want to get to know the person a little more, try lunch.

    A Scent To Remember

Smell is immediate and emotional. Upon entering a room, a pleasant fragrance can attract people’s attention, uplifting their mood and even go so far as to tap into a happy memory. So when you smell good, that too reflects on how well you take care of yourself.

It’s all in the small details, which speak about your professionalism, and make a lasting impression on others. Got it?
