In an effort to outdo Lady Gaga’s meat creation that she wore to the 2010 MTV awards, designer Sarah Louise Bryan called for hair donations on Twitter.
And whoa, she got them.
After sanitising the mops of hair, both pubic and head, Sarah placed them on a pre-made bra and skirt and then tweeted about it.
Just look at the array of colours:
From various browns to greys and reds, there is a good mix. The 28-year-old explains her idea:
I really wanted the world’s most unique and disgusting design, so when someone sees a design they know it was me instantly.
I got the donated hair mostly from British men, plus the odd American, who sent her the hair in envelopes.
I needed six months to get enough pubic hair to create the dress. I kept the donated strands wrapped in cling wrap in the room of my 13-year-old son.
I didn’t tell him the truth but he has the whole second floor of the house so it’s a big area, the hardest part was keeping all the hair together in one piece.
Although the idea was something she believed in, actually doing the work made her gag:
I set to work with my eye mask, breathing mask and thickest gloves I could find, because who wants to eat pubic hair?
I thought of the design because of how gross it is. I thought, ‘What would be the worst thing to have on your dress?’
And this isn’t her first crazy creation. Last year, she created a dress made from 3 000 Skittles worth $6,500 (R95 000).
But then, while it was being transported to Los Angeles, it melted.
Bleak. It’s really pretty.
She is willing to sell her latest creation, but only to the right person for the right price:
I would only sell to a high profile celeb or museum. I’d have to remake the top to size. I wouldn’t make any wearable art for anyone unless they are high profile. I want to be exclusive. You can only have one if you are someone.
Isn’t everyone someone?
Meanwhile, her next idea is a little more daunting. She will need a lot more than just some masks and gloves:
Gag.
