  • Pokemon Players In Bosnia Have A Landmine Problem

In the early 90s there was a genocide in Bosnia. The killing of more than 8 500 Bosniaks by Serbs in a single year was a tragic event, and left a legacy of division still quite apparent in the country today.

But another blight the war left on the country was acres and acres of dangerous landmines.

There are around 1 200 of these explosives still left in Bosnia and, since the end of the war in 1995, 600 people have been killed by them.

Now, local demining charity group ‘Posavina bez mina’ is warning citizens of venturing into designated landmine areas to get Pokemon. Via Facebook, the group sent out a warning:

We received information that some users of the Pokemon Go app in Bosnia were going to places which are a risk for mines, in search of a pokemon.

Citizens are urged not to do so, to respect demarcation signs of dangerous minefields and not to go into unknown areas.

While this should be obvious, the hunt to catch em all is a real one and landmine areas might hold the key to unlocking a few rarities on the Pokedex. But people need to resist the urge.

I rate the group should also make use of the advert below.
