Ever been partying it up near Long Street and needed a line of white power to get your head straight? Well, it might have been sourced from a private apartment, high up above the corner of Loop and Pepper streets in Cape Town’s CBD.
After a tip-off led police to the Pepperclub Hotel & Spa, law enforcement found a stash of pure cocaine worth around R600 000 on the eighth floor. It was in the kitchen cupboard of a private apartment.
While the hotel caters to holidaymakers, there are a few privately owned apartments in the building as well – but the general manager of the hotel, Josiah Montsho, told News24 it was a surprise to them:
It came as news to us because it is a privately-owned apartment. The tenant deals with the landlord. We have no dealings and no access.
I wonder… if the stash wasn’t found in a privately-owned apartment, would hotel management not be surprised?
The cocaine was found inside a black bag, divided into eight small packets. Although hotel management is yet to be contacted by the officers, investigation is still underway.
The Pepperclub’s website says it’s rare to get a private apartment in the building. Hmmm – so rare you need to deal coke? Maybe they were just storing it for their next party.
