You wouldn’t peg Olympic weightlifters as the most nimble bunch, but then you haven’t heard about Lithuania’s Aurimas Didzbalis.
Competing in the men’s 94kg competition, Aurimas was obviously rather happy to land bronze with an impressive lift, and decided the best way to celebrate was by flipping out.
Great height, great rotation:
Some background from Huffington Post:
”I only do them when I win a medal,” he said of the backflip during a press conference afterward. “If I had finished fourth, you wouldn’t have seen it.”
The 25-year-old, who missed the London 2012 Olympics because he was serving a two-year ban for doping, lifted 392 kg (around 864 pounds) to take third place.
That doping ban takes some of the gloss off the flip, but I guess he served his time.
