There is a long list of people with more money than sense, and you can add lottery winners Jason and Victoria Jones to that one now.
Back in 2004 they lucked out and scooped £2.3million (R43 million), the couple having only been married for a month at that point.
Rather than setting themselves up for a long and happy life together, the wheels began to come off in the years that followed.
Dishing the dirt is the Mirror:
The couple bought their own luxury home, a £70,000 sports car and started up an impressive property portfolio in Devizes, Wiltshire.
But the couple have been the latest victims to succumb the so-called “lottery curse”…
Despite building an impressive property business with their win, Mrs Jones claims it is “one of the worst things that’s ever happened to me.”
She added: ‘The stress it gives you in life and even 12 years down the line, I’m still classed as a lottery winner and it’s horrible. It ruins your life. People treat you differently – it’s just not a nice thing.’
The couple have now split up, with Victoria befriending a chap who sold his bed retail business for £222 million (R4,2 billion) back in 2008.
Here’s the thing – no matter how many horror stories I hear, or talk of this lottery winner curse, I’d still like to take my chances.
It’s pretty easy, really. I buy my tickets HERE – maybe for Wednesday’s $154 million Powerball is a decent bet – and then I dream about never working a day in my life again.
