Drones hey – if you can’t beat them, join them.

The latest GoPro toy is the Karma drone, and those in the know are frothing at the mouth to get their hands on one.

The drone market is a pretty crowded one, but tech heads believe that the Karma has the necessary attributes to make a real dent in the market.

First things first, let’s take a look at the video GoPro have released to punt their new toy:

If that hasn’t won you over here’s Wired with why it’s a winner:

[It] appears to have an original, user-friendly design—which means it might have a pretty good shot at making an impact…

Karma is small and foldable, designed to fit inside a daypack (or the small, rectangular backpack it comes with). You don’t have to assemble the drone each time; the four arms (one rotor on each) just fold snugly against the body and click into place in seconds. It’s also very flat. As someone who has used the DJI Phantom line for years, I can say that’s a big deal. Most drones are awkward to carry and require a specialized [sic] Pelican case.

Take that DJI Phantom, your rule atop the drone roost might be coming to a close. Back to the Karma:

…unlike most drones these days the Karma does not have a built-in camera. You just use your GoPro with it—any Hero4 or Hero5 camera. This will offset the cost somewhat and give you more options for upgrading over the years.

They go on (and on and on) about GoPro’s new drone releases HERE, so check that out if you want more nitty-gritty.

And now for the pressing question – how much is the Karma drone going to set you back? You’re looking at forking out $800 (around R11 200) for the privilege, according to the official site (HERE), plus whatever shipping costs from the U.S. to our shores.

If that sounds like money well spent to you then happy days, flog your DJI Phantom and welcome the good Karma.

The rest of us will just enjoy sharing your epic videos, thank you very much.
