  • Hlaudi Motsoeneng Just Tried To Ruin Mandoza’s Funeral [Video]

There’s a time and a place to speak out against your detractors, and the funeral of a beloved musician is not that place.

Someone should have told (current) former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng that, because instead of using his time at the podium to honour Mandoza he went off on another tirade.

I guess he can’t turn off his tyrannical rantings, and although much of his rambling is met with approval in the clip below his antics won’t sit well with everyone.

Here’s part of his speech from the funeral earlier this morning:

As for his position as SABC COO, here’s the latest from News24:

On Tuesday, Motsoeneng reported for duty at the public broadcaster an “ordinary employee”, after the Supreme Court of Appeal rejected his bid for leave to appeal against a High Court ruling that set aside his permanent appointment.

“He tended to his services this morning,” his lawyer Zola Majavu told News24 at the time.

The SABC board then recommend to Communications Minister Faith Muthambi that she appoint former COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng as acting COO until December.

This comes after Public Protector Thuli Madonsela found in a report released in February 2014 that Motsoeneng lied about his qualifications when he applied for the post of COO, that he hiked his salary from R1.5m to R2.4m in one year, and purged senior staff.

Despite these adverse findings, Muthambi confirmed his permanent appointment by the board.

Honestly, what dirt does he have on Faith and his other supporters that they’ll basically lift their leg on the Supreme Court of Appeal’s ruling?

More on the mess from IOL:

Internal correspondence leaked to The Star says he has been appointed COO for three months – from September 19 to December 18…

The communications ministry says it has not seen the correspondence…

Opposition parties have said that the board was undermining the Supreme Court of Appeal’s ruling by trying to appoint Motsoeneng through the back door.

The board appeared to be divided after one member of the board, Krish Naidoo, publicly came out against attempts by his fellow board members to reinstate Motsoeneng as the acting COO.

Lies, lies and more lies. Hit it, Zapiro…

Sad that every court ruling has to include such an asterisk, but I guess these are the times we live in.
