Footage Shows Croc Attacking Zim Couple In Their Own Swimming Pool [Video]

Kariba is still something of a wild place, and if it's proof you're after check out what happened when these folks went for a splash in their pool.
Nile crocodile, Crocodylus niloticus, with it's head out of water.

Growing up I used to spend my September holidays up in Zimbabwe, and we’d always stop in at Kariba on our way to Mana Pools.

Many times traffic would come to a standstill as an elephant wandered down the main road, and a family friend had his dog nabbed from his couch by a leopard whilst he sat watching TV.

He got the dog back by banging pots and pans together and frightening the big cat, in case you were wondering.

The point is there are few towns in southern Africa that exist in such close proximity with wild animals as Kariba, and here’s all the proof you need.

Mashable describing this video as follows:

YouTuber Zimboo88 shared a clip from a CCTV camera on Friday of a crocodile casually terrifying a man and woman when it decided to join them in an unnamed hotel swimming pool in Kariba, Zimbabwe. The footage was time-stamped Thursday.

That bit about the hotel swimming pool is wrong, because the YouTube video explicitly says ‘private residence swimming pool’.

A little more from the YouTube video itself:

The current weather situation in Zimbabwe remains very dry with little to no rainfall in the latter part of 2016. This drought is causing Lake Kariba water levels to drop dangerously low and the natural ecosystem is being hugely affected, many fish are also being netted due to lack of governance and funding – in turn this is creating the crocodiles to search elsewhere for food and hence the tenacity of this particular juvenile Nile Croc!

And you thought your mate’s pooch diving in was an unwelcome guest…
