Wealthy Jo’burg Residents Make Domestic Workers Stand Outside On Halloween [Images]

Halloween in South Africa may be celebrated in a multitude of ways, but how's this for absolute laziness in the upper-class suburbs of Johannesburg?

In the new South Africa there are two groups of people – those who are empathetically aware of the disgusting social inequalities that still exist 20 years into our democracy, and those who aren’t.

It’s chilled (not really), we get it (not really).

But seriously, do better (really really).

The latest example of this comes from Grant Pascoe, who uploaded a Facebook album of photographs taken in what seems to be the extremely affluent area of Westcliff, Johannesburg:

Now, the wording may be a bit strong – “made to sit” – but surely, in this day and age, if you are unwilling to participate in the Halloween celebrations yourself you should just not do it?

I dunno man.

How’s that champagne bucket?

I just hope they are being paid handsomely for their work, whatever it entails.
