You might not have heard about Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and it probably won’t smash big numbers at the box office.
That’s fine, because it looks like an acquired taste. Vulture words things a little differently:
Frances McDormand plays the grieving mother of a murdered girl who fights against police inaction by putting up three billboards calling law enforcement out. With a cast rounded out by Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell, the film looks like meaty stuff, but, under the directorial eye of Martin McDonagh, it is also profane as fuck.
A sample line, with McDormand outlining the battle ahead: “This didn’t put an end to shit, you fucking retard; this is just the fucking start. Why don’t you put that on your Good Morning Missouri fucking wake up broadcast, bitch?” Yeah, can’t put that on a billboard. Or can we…
