Anyone else bored of these guys already?
They have to earn their massive paydays somehow, so now they’re being trotted around the world whilst they sing for their suppers.
The first stop at LA’s Staples Centre was actually quite entertaining, Conor’s pinstripe suit perhaps the highlight (HERE).
Stop number three was over in New York, and I’ll let FoxSports dish the dirt:
Shortly after McGregor showed up, Mayweather made his way into the arena and the press conference got underway, but the show only went downhill from there.
The audio inside the arena was loud but barely audible so it was tough to hear much of anything coming from the fighters, but perhaps that was all for the better considering what was said.
To kick things off, McGregor decided to address claims of racism after he told Mayweather to “dance for me, boy” on two separate occasions in Los Angeles and Toronto. McGregor’s response was ill-advised at best and the crowd reaction was muted but that was mostly because no one could really hear what he said.
“Do they not know I’m half black?” McGregor shouted. “I’m half-black from the belly button down!”
You can take the man out of the trailer park, but you can’t…well, you know the rest.
As you can imagine, there was some criticism levelled his way:
That doesn’t sit well with me,” McGregor responded about claims of racism. “I’m a multi-cultured individual. I don’t have ill feelings towards [anyone], I don’t even see colour. I just wanted to say something and have a little bit of fun with it.”
Mayweather called McGregor’s comments “disrespectful”…
Cool.
Here’s why this has really run its course – McGregor shouted and screamed like he does, and then Mayweather repeated the same speech he had given at the two previous conferences.
Basically, if you didn’t know who these guys were you would think you were watching WWE wrestling.
Oh look, the Undertaker emerges from a coffin.
Fancy 10 minutes of absolute cringe trash talk and posturing? You’re in luck:
The other day we said we can’t wait for August 26. This time we mean it.
Make it stop.
