  • St. Martin Is ‘Unreachable’ – Staggering Images Show Latest Hurricane Irma Damage [Video]

Hurricane Irma is a real bitch, if we’re being honest.

The death toll continues to rise, and over on Saint Martin those on the ground say that the island is 95% destroyed.

It’s so bad that, according to Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, large parts of the island are now “unreachable”,

Part of the island is Dutch territory, in case that connection left you baffled, but let’s start with some aerial pics via QZ:

You wanna see what a 300 km’h wind looks like? Boom:

More comments from the Dutch PM via PRI:

“Alas, the island is not reachable at this point because of the huge damage to the airport and the harbor,” Rutte told reporters…

Rutte said the priority now was to get the airport in the southern Dutch part of the island up and running again, to enable aid to be brought in.

After holding crisis talks with his top cabinet ministers, Rutte confirmed “there is no power” on St. Martin and the island’s “infrastructure is badly damaged.”

There are 24 photos that show ‘badly damaged’ is an understatement HERE.

Remember the famous St. Martin Airport, where the plane flies right over the beach? Wrecked:

The damage over on neighbouring British Virgin Islands is also devastating, with Tortola and capital city Road Town being battered:

Let’s just hope the loss of life doesn’t mirror the destruction to property.
