Margot Robbie As Tonya Harding In Movie About Ice Skating’s Darkest Days [Trailer]

One of the most notorious sporting rivalries in history, this biopic tells the story of how an ice-skating feud ended with a police baton to the knee.

Infamous sporting rivalries of this magnitude only come around once in a blue moon.

It was the early 90s and ice skaters Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding competed head-to-head, with the rivalry culminating in a devastating injury, reports TIME.

Harding became one of the most notorious figures in pop culture for her alleged involvement in a physical attack on Kerrigan, just before the 1994 Olympic Games.

Caught on camera, Kerrigan was seen sprawled on the floor of Detroit’s Cobo Arena sobbing:

“Why? Why? Why?”

This is pretty rough to watch:

She had been hit in the kneecap with a police baton by a man who fled the scene:

During the investigation following Kerrigan’s attack, authorities quickly discovered that the assault had been planned by Jeff Gillooly, the ex-husband of Kerrigan’s chief rival, 23-year-old Harding.

Now, Harding’s anti-hero story is being told in a biopic titled I, Tonya.

The first official trailer sees Margot Robbie as Harding, and it’s going to be interesting to see the direction the film takes.

Check it out:

Bruh, that looks like a biopic I wanna see.

It’s set to be in cinemas December 8, 2017.
