We’re not idiots, and we know that Cape Town has its fair share of crime.

Everyone who has lived here has their own story to tell, and you can bet your bottom dollar (or bitcoin) that your friend who emigrated to Perth takes great pride in sharing theirs.

Whatever your take, surely those who have visited the Mother City know that it’s not a war zone, and you’ll find that a night out in the CBD can be rather enjoyable.

How’s this exchange via Airbnb then, sent our way from a reader who has an Airbnb listing in the city?

Are people seriously warning those headed to our shores that they must, “without fail”, be back in their rooms by 7PM?

We like to take the piss out of Jozi, but the 7PM rule would even be considered silly in that neck of the woods.

It’s clear from the past week or so that our city isn’t short of tourists (another reason to embrace convenience during these trying times), so this kind of message isn’t wreaking havoc with the industry, but it’s still not a good look.

Even the biggest crime whingers, and we all know one, aren’t playing by this 7PM nonsense.

Tell your friends and family to keep their wits about them, of course, but don’t be a part of that ‘harbinger of doom’ vibe.

    No man.
