  • Mark Fish Tries To Post Tribute To Hugh Masekela, Fails Dismally [Image]

It’s tough not to like Mark Fish, especially if you watched Bafana Bafana back in the heyday of the 1996 African Cup of Nations.

The crowd would bellow out ‘FIIIIIIISH’ every time he touched the ball, and he formed part of a defence that led Bafana to our sole continental success.

Of course those days are long gone, and Bafana now flounder from one qualifier to another, sacking coaches with abandon.

Mark, on the other hand, remains popular, rocking close to 50 000 followers on Twitter. That’s where he tried to post a tribute to Hugh Masekela following news of his passing, but it didn’t go well.

Ready for the cringe? Off we go:

That would be Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse in the photo, not Bra Hugh, bra.

Sipho’s website, in case you’re not familiar with the man, describes him as “one of the country’s best-loved and most respected musicians; more than just a musician or an artist, he is a legend”.

Fish was quick to realise his error, deleting the tweet and following up with these:

If at first you don’t succeed, pick yourself up and tweet again.

    Then this from earlier today:

Rumour has it he almost tweeted out this photo at the same time:

Jokes, Mark, have a lekker day.

BONUS: Please enjoy SABC presenter anchor Peter Ndoro talking about the passing of politician Mangosuthu Buthelezi, before realising that’s actually the guest he’s about to talk with.

He meant to say the passing of former Bophuthatswana leader Lucas Manyane Mangope:

@peterndoro I blame the @SABCNewsOnline editor. They failed you my Brother. pic.twitter.com/Izzrn0rI3e
