  • They’re Calling This South Korean Athlete The Winter Olympics “Meme-Lord” [Videos]

The gift that keeps on giving, South Korea’s Alex Kang-chan Kam has been dubbed the Winter Olympics “meme-lord”.

You can thanks SBS Nation for that tag-line, but it’s tough to argue with them, really.

It all began during the Winter Olympics’ opening ceremony.

As the camera panned across the combined Korean teams, Alex, a figure skater, was caught on camera dabbing in celebration of both Koreas marching together.

    Lots of energy here:

Then, on Monday, he surprised viewers again.

As the world watched the figure skating team event, the camera, as it seems to do often, panned to the audience.

Once again finding himself the focal point, Alex took the opportunity to meme it out. He removed a pair of Olympic ring-shaped sunglasses only to reveal that he was wearing another pair of sunnies underneath.

    Seriously:

No word on whether he got the sunnies from Sunglass Hut. I would, however, advise popping onto their site to see what you can find for your next on-television appearance.

Because you never know when your next 15 seconds of fame might come.

According to Teen Vogue, social media went off – and Alex, an enthusiastic redditor, made it to the “front page of the Internet”:

Alex’s instantly iconic move also made it to the very top of the Reddit front page, BuzzFeed reports, where he was quickly identified by name and username and given Reddit gold.

“Thank you to every single comment for the kind words and thank you also for the golds!” he wrote, under the username kambam95. “They mean more to me than olympic gold medals on this blessed day. This is unreal! Absolutely nutty! I love every single one of you. Here’s to more goofs and gafs and zoops and zaps!”

Elsewhere in the thread, Alex also identified himself as, yes, the Olympian who was dabbing so excitedly during the opening ceremony. “THAT WAS ME DABBING TOO AHAHAHHA!!! I wanna make this olympics a very MEMEorable one!!!!” he wrote.

Adorable. That triple-axel landing figure skater has nothing on him.

However, a definite contender for first place in the Winter Olympics meme event is this camera-licking child:

    I just can’t.
