Yesterday afternoon, traffic on the corner of Maxwell Drive and the R55 in Johannesburg came to a virtual standstill.

That’s because the Johannesburg Flying Squad were on top form, using intelligence tip-offs to arrest three suspected Rolex Gang members.

The arrests were made after a high-speed chase, with this below from the Citizen:

Sergeant Desmond Subramoney said: “On 7 March at about 1.30pm, three suspects were arrested and two firearms were found [one Uzi and one 9mm Parabellum] at the scene.”

[The] heavily armed suspects were said to have been on their way to the Sandton CBD area.

One suspect was still at large. Subramomey confirmed that no suspects or police officers were injured during the pursuit. However, one woman was injured after the suspect’s vehicle slammed into her. She was transported to a hospital.

A motorist trapped in the traffic filmed this:

Some of the weapons recovered from the scene:

    Pretty hectic.

Not as hectic as that cash-in-transit shootout, though – watch that video here.

At least we know that our law enforcement organisations are tackling the Rolex Gang head on, and the same is true for our courts. This is from IOL back in early February:

…three members of the Rolex Gang; Beta Mphikeleni, Sipho Mabundla and George Mulaudzi have been handed a 682 years jail sentence in the South Gauteng High Court on Friday.

Mphikeleni, Mabundla and Mulaudzi committed  the robberies over six weeks in 2014 as part of the Rolex Gang, tracking down people who had recently purchased highly valuable items.

Three less gang members on the street.

You want the bad news, Cape Town? Our violent crime is still worse.
