Last night, the heavens opened and offered Capetonians the chance to watch a gorgeous display of lightning.
Of course, first came the sunset which, in case you missed it, was captured by none other than Heinz Winckler in the image above. Thanks, dude.
While many of us found the best seat in the house from which to watch Mother Nature do her thing, others were a little more proactive and took out their cameras.
After snapping some glorious pics, they duly uploaded them to social media and we couldn’t be happier.
First, there is Roelof Louw (@Dolfieman), who took some pics from Bloubergstrand:
Next up is Brendon Wainwright (@brendon_wainwright), who was also based at Bloubergstrand:
And then there’s Robbert Koene (@Robbertkoene), who appeared to be on Signal Hill:
Basil Parker (@basilparker) stacked 22 images taken from the Waterfront to get this beauty:
Oh, and @darylglass also from Blouberg side:
But the lightening didn’t only do its thing over the City Bowl. @robstami was in Lakeside when he caught this, and even added some music to hype up the drama:
Then, Tyron van der Berg (@reverthex_) found himself in Hout Bay:
And so did James van Hinsbergen (@james_vh64):
Then, there’s this collection taken by @brett.za from Ou Kaapse Weg:
But of all of them, this timelapse from Angus Baikie (@angus.baikie) best conveys what happened in the sky above the Cape last night:
If you missed the show for whatever reason, I hope it was worth it.
