If you thought Peanut was the ugliest dog to ever walk the earth, then we have some news for you.

Fourteen none-too-cute canines went head to head at the World’s Ugliest Dog competition at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California on Saturday, June 23.

The competition was incredibly tight but, in the end, there could only be one shuffling away with the 2018 title.

Folks, meet your winner, Zsa Zsa:

Wow, girl, where do we even begin with you?

From the under-bite and the serpentine tongue to the poorly manicured pink claws, Zsa Zsa – a nine-year-old English bulldog – bagged the title and a cool R20 260 in cash, reports BBC.

We can’t think of a more deserving winner than you, Zsa Zsa. Really.

Still, her fellow competitors put up a good fight in the uggo doggo department.

Here are some honourable mentions, with details from ABC News:

Rascal is a naturally hairless chihuaha with a tuft of Einstein-like hair on his head and two different-coloured eyes.

He is the winner of a number ugliest dog competitions — but it wasn’t to be this year.

Better luck next time, Rascal ol’ chum. When it comes to swag, at least no dog can beat you.

Himisaboo, from Oregon, has a dachsund body and long legs. Except for the long hair on his head, tail and toes, he is hairless.

Power to you for keeping the tradition of mullets alive, Himisaboo.

Mandarina flashes a toothy smile to the camera as she walks across the stage.

And what a, um, beautiful smile it is.

Wild Thang is a Pekingese from Los Angeles. According to AJC.com, she contracted distemper at 10 weeks old, and now has limited movement in her tongue and slight jaw paralysis.

One of her front legs also paddles constantly, even when she is asleep.

Personally, I think Wild Thang could have easily clinched the crown in this contest, but oh well.

All in all, the competition isn’t there for us petty humans to make fun of these repugnant pooches:

While the competition highlights unattractive pooches, organisers say it is actually a celebration of the dogs, many of whom were rescued from shelters or puppy farms.

Give these brave doggos a round of applause, guys, and bow down to Zsa Zsa while you’re at it.
