In a grisly turn of events, three prominent YouTubers died at a waterfall in Canada.

Ryker Gamble, Megan Scraper and Alexey Lyakh [pictured left to right above], were all vloggers on the popular extreme travel YouTube channel, High on Life.

The trio had been swimming at Shannon Falls in British Columbia on Tuesday, July 3, when, according to the police, they then “slipped and fell into a pool 30 metres below”.

    More from The Guardian:

Scraper slipped and fell into one of the lower pools, over 30 metres below. Lyakh and Gamble attempted to save her but were swept in the pool system below. It was unclear whether the trio were filming there.

    Tragic news.

Other members of the High on Life channel, which has more than 535 000 subscribers, posted an emotional tribute video to their deceased friends:

It’s a heartbreaking watch, and it’s clear that these guys are going to miss their friends dearly.

However, their touching message might not be enough to pacify the masses, who may criticise YouTube channels like High on Life for the rise in daredevil acts, reports The Guardian:

Last year Wu Yongning, who climbed dangerous skyscrapers, fell to his death filming a stunt. Pedro Ruiz, 26, was shot dead by his girlfriend in front of their three-year-old daughter. He was filming a stunt where he held a book in front of his chest, believing it would protect him against a bullet.

High on Life is especially well-known for posting videos of travelling to exotic, hard-to-reach locations and performing extreme stunts:

Not only that, but Gamble and Lyakh have courted trouble for their daredevil antics in the past:

Last year Gamble, Lyakh and Justis Price Brown, another member of the collective, were banned from US federal land for five years after pleading guilty to walking on a sensitive hot spring in Yellowstone national park and other crimes at parks across the western US. Gamble and Lyakh served seven days in jail.

Any which way you look at it, it’s still devastating knowing that these young individuals lost their lives too soon.
