Congrats, you have made it through seven months of the year without strangling your annoying co-worker.
We assume.
That doesn’t make you a good person, but what does make you a good person is helping a cause that should be close to all of our hearts.
Last month we told you about Kiff Bru Projects and all the sterling work they’re doing, with their Mandela Day initiative delivering 1 135 Food For Thought packages to children in need.
It’s safe to say stoked faces abound:
Mandela Day has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean Kiff Bru Projects, or the rest of us, should put our feet up.
This month they’re focusing on the Ukama Community Foundation, which supports three Educare centres in Vrygrond/Capricorn area near Muizenberg.
The three Educares are:
- Educate for Good Educare
- Little Princes and Princesses Creche
- Little Flowers Educare
The foundation has been going for three years now, supporting around 200 children through three facilities. From 2018 this will increase to support 340 children in seven facilities, and the Ukama goal is to make life a little brighter for children in Vrygrond.
How can you help? Well, for a start, there are a number of packages you can contribute to, for as little as R50, that will help with bringing a smile to these kids’ faces:
Here’s where Kiff Bru Projects really sets themselves apart from other charities. They make it really easy to spread the Kiffness by allowing peeps to do something a little special for your wedding, birthday, or office charity vibes.
Do you want some good karma in your face? Instead of getting friends to buy you a birthday gift you might want to turf in the bin, create a registry that friends and family can donate to, with all of the proceeds going to the noble Kiff Bru cause of your choosing.
As it stands, there are three main areas of focus:
If you were to donate to the Ukama Community Foundation, for example, all of the money could be put towards an Angel Classroom On Wheels.
This is a mobile classroom library, and a central point from which the educator delivers lessons. Six Angel Classroom on Wheels are required at R3 715 per classroom, and your contribution will be put towards buying one of these for each creche.
That’s probably going to leave a warmer, fuzzier feeling than receiving gifts you have no actual use for, right?
Whether you’re making a one-off donation or setting up a registry, we encourage everyone to be Kiff.
It’s helluva easy, after all.
