Reaching 500 career goals is one hell of a milestone, and trust Zlatan to do it in style.
Much like how the likes of Chris Gayle and Virender Sehwag looked to reach batting milestones with a big hit, the Swedish superstar was never going to be happy with a tap-in for number 500.
Instead, he pulled off an acrobatic twist mid-air, showing off the kind of finishing prowess that has seen him find success around the world.
Admittedly, it came in a loss to MLS team Toronto FC, but it makes a nice change from Zlatan slapping people and faking an injury:
That commentary is typically American in its ‘over the top’ nature, but they have some way go to before they can rival our isiXhosa rugby commentators.
Via Soccer Laduma, Zlatan wasn’t shy of talking up his achievements post-match:
“I am happy for Toronto because they will be remembered as my 500th victim.”
“I mean, from my personal objective it’s fantastic,” continued Ibrahimovic. “I probably have more goals than the guys on the field have games together. Of course, it’s huge.
“I don’t know how many have scored 500 goals in their career, but I am one of them and if would feel nicer if we win the game but still, I did it so there is nothing I will hide from.”
Still, he will never, ever beat this effort from five years back against England:
