Tourists generally enjoy getting up and close with some of our animals (penguins at Boulders and the like), but Vicky Smith from Luxembourg managed to film an encounter that was a little too close for comfort.
Vicky was on a guided game drive in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Park, in central KZN, as part of her three-week trip in South Africa when she saw a buffalo that was clearly having a bad day.
After the guides driving the truck decided to stop, Vicky started filming as the buffaloes crossed the road. Here’s Traveller24:
“The family in the car tried to run the buffaloes off the road, so they could pass with their car. As you can see on the video, they weren’t interested in the buffaloes but were taking pictures of an elephant which was a long way off. They didn’t respect the buffaloes and this is what I told my boyfriend during taking the video”.
It’s safe to say they got a proper skrik when the buffalo dropped its head and rammed the vehicle:
Said he was a buffalo soldier…
No? OK, fair enough.
A polite reminder to tourists to respect our wildlife.
