Stalling when you’re at a traffic light is irritating.
Stalling when you’re a few thousand feet up in the air is just plain terrifying.
That’s what happened to pilot David Acklam, a systems engineer at Boeing, in his KR2 aircraft.
According to The New York Post, Acklam was forced to make an emergency landing on a busy Washington State highway.
“Essentially, what happened is the pilot was supposed to make an emergency landing because he was having a fuel system malfunction,” Trooper Johnna Batiste, a spokesperson for the state police, told The Post.
“Lucky for him and lucky for our trooper it worked out safely for everyone.”
Acklam even stopped the plane at a red light.
A Washington State patroller, Clint Thompson, captured the epic landing on his car’s dashcam:
Acklam apparently regularly commutes by air from his job at the giant aircraft manufacturer from his home in Yelm, Washington, which is about 64 miles away.
He’s clearly a good guy to have around in a high-pressure situation.
