When you think ‘proudly South African’, a few things come to mind.
We’ve mastered the braai like no other, our wine and brandy are on point, and we pioneered the veldskoen.
As with all good things, the veldskoen has maintained its iconic status since its origins on South African farms.
Thanks to South African e-commerce startup Dorp (Digital Online Retail Products) the iconic veldskoen shoe has now gone global with a business aptly named Veldskoen.
The brand has a very appealing backstory, but the real power behind it is the ambition of its founders.
Here’s co-founder Nick Dreyer:
“We’ve always been of the mindset that we wanted to give Veldskoen the best shot to grow – like literally, the very best shot to have serious growth and so we set out with a lofty ambition to create a global South African brand,” he says.
“All we had to do was tell the real story of Veldskoen, tell it well, and ensure that people understood that this is a beautiful product from South Africa that you could wear it every single day,” he says.
“With a bit of design and some colour added to it, we made sure we ultimately had a really good unisex shoe that speaks to a broad audience.”
This year, the company was recognised on a global scale when they secured investment from Shark Tank’s Ashton Kutcher and celebrity investor Mark Cuban.
“What’s worked for us is that we’ve never, ever tried to make a niche out of the product. We set out to sell Veldskoen to every South African and to everyone that arrives in South Africa. Sure, it would’ve been tempting to go for the hipster fashion space because we would have been cool and on all the fashion blogs and all the rest of it,” says Dreyer.
“But the truth is Veldskoen needed to have an impact in South Africa – to all South Africans! That was the big driver for us – to make sure that our market was as big as possible and that we told a really, really good and happy South African story and made a product that could successfully carry that story.
To make their product even more accessible, Veldskoen has partnered up with PayJustNow.
“By offering PayJustNow as a payment option at Veldskoen’s online checkout we’re doing just what we set out to do – making our product accessible to all South Africans who can now choose to adopt a ‘buy now, receive now, pay later’ service,” he explains.
“This does not require customers to enter into a traditional loan or pay any upfront fees or interest. Instead, by choosing to pay with PayJustNow they pay a third of the transaction value at the time of purchase and the rest in two, easy interest-free instalments, as they earn money,” he says. “What’s more, their veldskoens are shipped straight away, there’s no waiting and no missing out!”
Veldskoen is just one of the stores offering high-quality products that you can enjoy now and pay off in three easy instalments.
Check out the full list of PayJustNow merchants here.
Once you’ve browsed to your heart’s content and filled that cart, select PayJustNow as a payment option, take a minute to set up your account, and you’re on your way.
Then all that’s left to do is sit back and wait for your new shoes to arrive.
