Makazole Mapimpi will forever be remembered as the first South African to score a try in a Rugby World Cup final, and what a try it was.

He was also amongst the first batch of Springboks to arrive back on home soil yesterday, and a huge, jubilant crowd greeted our heroes at OR Tambo International Airport.

After making their way through the throngs of supporters, the players faced the media’s questions.

Before we get to Mapimpi’s slip of the tongue, stop what you’re doing and watch this 3D video of his try:

I will never, ever tire of watching that. You’ll find a similar 3D video of Cheslin Kolbe’s try here.

OK, back to the matter at hand.

Pay attention to the reaction of Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa, sat on his right, as the expletive slips out:

F-bomb from brother Mapimpi 😂 First SA try-scorer in a Rugby World Cup final. He is allowed. pic.twitter.com/IKJOrQQiW1

Given that he’s just hopped off a flight home from Japan, and the Boks have been celebrating for two days solid, I think we can more than forgive him.

This guy was certainly feeling the vibe in a big way:

Via TimesLIVE, here’s more footage from the boys arriving home:

I’m a little bleak that Faf de Klerk didn’t step off the plane in his iconic undies, but credit to all the fans who stuck around for hours on end, waiting for a glimpse of Siya Kolisi carrying the William Webb Ellis trophy.

We’ll finish with the full video of Kolisi and Rassie Erasmus, who turned 47 yesterday and will shortly step down as Springbok coach, in the media briefing room:
