Let’s start with the British Legion Festival of Remembrance so you have some context for why Meghan, Harry, Kate and William – the supposedly feuding royal siblings – were all in the same room, at the Royal Albert Hall in West London.
The event commemorates all those who have lost their lives while at war. This year also marked the 75th anniversary of the great battles of 1944.
Right, on to the silliness.
As you might recall, Harry said that he and William had drifted apart, in a documentary filmed while he was in South Africa.
Since then the tabloids have been waiting, eagerly, for the siblings to be in the same room.
This rather odd highlights reel is proof that they were, in fact, all at the same event, at the same time:
In case you’re wondering, they aren’t sitting together because there’s royal protocol that determines who sits where at an event like this.
If you’d like to know where they were sitting, here’s a picture:
As you might have guessed by now, there isn’t much of a story here. There were no tearful reunions or public fights to report.
Never fear, though, because ‘nothing to report’ quickly turns into ‘scandal’ the moment you get a ‘body language expert’ involved, and that’s exactly what COSMOPOLITAN did.
Blanca Cobb gives us her professional opinion, starting with this photo:
The Duke and Duchess were snapped walking into the event and according to Cobb, they’re both ill at ease.
“Harry’s hand over his stomach is a self-soothing gesture,” she says. “It’s a go-to for him, and a protective gesture that helps comfort him in stressful situations.” As for Meghan, “her hands are in an awkward position, which signals that there’s a little bit of unease for her. They’re both showing some discomfort.”
There’s another picture in which Meghan’s hand is slightly over her stomach, which shows that she’s upset as well. It’s not all bad news, though. To return to the above picture:
“Their stance is very similar from their heads all the way to their feet, and they’re almost a mirror image of each other.” That shows that the royal couple is “emotionally in sync and on the same wavelength, which is a testament to their relationship—you want to be like someone you like.”
William and Kate were apparently a lot more relaxed. We know this because they looked more relaxed. Also, Kate was smiling.
I can’t help feeling that all of this is a load of bollocks, to use popular British slang.
Can we move on from this now, please?
