Today, with children around the country returning to school, the South African workforce is pretty much back on it.

Also returning to work is the country’s favourite satirical cartoonist (unless you’re a politician like Fikile Mbalula), Zapiro, who wasn’t quite sure where to start after some time putting his feet up.

In his cartoon for the Daily Maverick, titled ‘And we’re back’, he’s grappling with some familiar issues.

Eskom, of course, makes an appearance, as does Greta Thunberg, Australia’s bushfires, and Donald Trump.

    Welcome back, Zapiro:

We can confirm that it only takes a matter of hours back in the office for the end-of-year holiday to seem like a distant memory.

Then again, with a little shrewd leave planning and this year’s public holidays, you don’t have to wait until December to land yourself a break.

Hang in there, good people. The weekend is inching ever nearer.
