As far as we’re concerned, America’s Got Talent (AMT) hasn’t been worth watching since the Ndlovu Youth Choir wrapped up their stellar performances last year.
Then Marcelito Pomoy came along.
Pomoy won Pilipinas Got Talent in 2011. He recently returned to the stage for America’s Got Talent: The Champions, where winners of spin-offs of AMT from around the world compete to be crowned the ultimate AMT champion.
Entertainment.ie with more on the Filipino singer:
As it turned out, Pomoy has the ability to sing in both tenor and soprano voices, and was sometimes billed in The Phillippines as ‘Mars Dual’. As you’d expect, none of the judges on ‘America’s Got Talent: The Champions’ were aware of this and when he began his performance, their reaction said it all.
He sings ‘The Prayer’, originally performed by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. If you want to skip the backstory and go straight to the performance, it kicks off at 2:44:
Not my favourite song, but that was, undeniably, very impressive. Two voices, two languages, and he kills it.
It’s no surprise that the above video has gone viral.
Marcelito’s ‘internet-melting’ performance isn’t the reason your favourite website is taking so long to load today, though. You can blame some faulty submarine cables for that.
