South African road users have been crying out for some sort of accountability for those who don’t obey the law, so I’m sure they will welcome the news of the arrest of this taxi driver in Johannesburg.
A video showing the man striking another car with a brick was widely shared on Wednesday, and caught the attention of the Chief of Police of the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD, David Tembe.
According to JMPD spokesperson chief superintendent Wayne Minnaar, the incident occurred on Corlett Drive on the same day.
Here’s the clip that set the wheels in motion:

Tembe picked up on the video yesterday, and asked for assistance via Twitter:
Later in the day, he announced the good news:
TimesLIVE with more:
Minnaar said after an investigation, the taxi driver was traced to the Alexandra Taxi Association.
He was arrested on Thursday afternoon and is in custody at the Norwood police station.
“The victim and owner of the white VW Kombi is requested to proceed to Norwood police station, where he or she is needed to make a statement.”
Whether or not the driver of the VW Kombi came forward is unclear, but at least the taxi driver may think twice before threatening fellow road users in the future.
At least we hope so.
