The South Africans trapped in Wuhan are on their way back to South Africa and will be arriving today.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on Thursday announced that upon arrival they will be transported to The Ranch Resort in Polokwane, Limpopo, where they will be quarantined for at least 14 days until they’re given the all-clear.

There has been a fair amount of speculation about the conditions under which the repatriates will be kept.

When you think about containing a global pandemic, government facilities and school halls come to mind – we can thank Hollywood for that misconception.

Instead, reports EWN, the Limpopo resort was found to be the most appropriate venue due to the number of rooms, catering services, and proximity to a landing area for the arriving plane.

If you have to be quarantined, this is really not the worst place to spend two weeks:

Mkhize has tried to stem the panic about their return by reminding everyone in the surrounding areas that the evacuees are not sick and have not thus far tested positive for the virus.

All of them will be tested over the course of their stay at the resort.

In the interim, the resort is under lockdown and security has been put in place to ensure that it stays that way until the quarantine process is over.

Confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported in most of South Africa’s major cities.

The government is tracking down everyone who might have come in contact with the infected patients.

    And, we soldier on…
