  • What Rassie Said To The Springboks During Rugby World Cup Final Half-Time [Videos]

When the Springboks walked into the changing room at half-time during the 2019 Rugby World Cup final, they would have been on a high.

Our forwards had just scrummed the Poms into submission, with flyhalf Handrè Pollard slotting the penalty to secure a 12-6 lead.

Around the country, and the world, South Africa started to really believe that they could oust the English, who had put in such a dominant performance to overcome the All Blacks in the semi-final.

The half-time break gave Rassie Erasmus a chance to speak to his chargers, and SuperSport’s ‘Rugby World Cup 2019 Relived’, which first aired on Freedom Day, let us inside the changing room to hear from the then coach, who stressed the importance of getting right in the opposition’s faces.

Listening to Siya Kolisi, Duane Vermeulen, and Pollard, it’s clear that worked:

Oh, great – here come the goosebumps again.

    32-12.

Earlier this week, Rassie also shared this video on Twitter, comparing talent and mindset:

A little dig at Willie le Roux there, but the man came good when it counted.

How about reliving that mammoth defensive effort? In we go:

That passage of play really drew a line in the sand.

All of the above is just a teaser ahead of the August release of Chasing the Sun, a six-part docuseries that promises to “lift the lid on Springbok rugby like never before”.

    Happy Tuesday, world champions.
