Let’s delve into some background on Prince Joachim of Belgium (above) before we continue.

He’s the younger son and third child of Lorenz, Archduke of Austria-Este, and Princess Astrid of Belgium.

He also looks like Draco Malfoy.

When Prince Harry settled down, Joachim was declared one of the most eligible royal bachelors in the world.

Prior to his relationship with Meghan, Harry was known to party hard. A trip to Las Vegas that ended with some naked pictures on the internet really stands out.

While Harry got wild in his day, he didn’t do so under strict lockdown rules.

Prince Joachim, on the other hand, got up to no good in Spain and is now paying the price.

    Over to the BBC:

A Belgian prince who contracted coronavirus after attending a party during lockdown in Spain has apologised and “will accept the consequences”.

“I deeply regret my actions,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

Prince Joachim, 28, travelled from Belgium to Spain for an internship on 26 May, but went to a party two days later in the southern city of Córdoba.

“I apologise for not respecting all quarantine measures during my trip,” his statement reads, adding: “In these difficult times I did not want to offend anyone.”

He was one of 27 people at the party and is only experiencing mild COVID-19 symptoms, so no need to panic if you’re a fan of the Belgian Royal Family for some reason.

Spanish police have launched an investigation into the party. Those found to have flouted lockdown rules could be fined up to €10,000 (£9,000; $11,100).

Everyone who attended the party is said to be in quarantine.

Spain is trying to emerge from one of the strictest lockdowns in Europe. Similar to South Africa, the country outlined a four-stage plan to get things going again.

The country said it was moving to a second phase from 1 June for 70% of Spaniards, leaving only major cities under tighter restrictions.

Prince Joachim is now a vector for disease.

Perhaps he’ll make better choices moving forward.
