If you’re one of the brave souls who ventured off to the liquor store to stock up on booze on Monday, I hope you made it out okay.

Black Friday looked like a stroll in the park compared to the lifting of the liquor ban.

Many Capetonians were probably day-dreaming about the good old days of ‘Mobile Dop’. Sure, it was dodgy, the alcohol was bottom of the barrel, and it cost an arm and a leg, but at least it was delivered to your door.

Thankfully we’ve come a long way since then, with apps and online delivery services that make stocking up a whole lot easier, with Dop2Door standing out from the crowd.

Dop2Door is an online alcohol delivery service in Cape Town that combines the customer experience of a brick and mortar store, with speedy delivery to your door.

Their prices are decent, and the delivery fee is a flat rate of R90 – a small price to pay not to have to leave the house and battle the chaos in a store.

If we can get serious for a minute: ordering from the comfort of your couch means that you limit contact with strangers in a liquor store, and the company is COVID-19 compliant, which means that they’re taking your health and safety into account when they drop off your dop.

There’s also no guarantee that the Western Cape won’t backtrack to alert level 4 at some point, so it’s best to fill those cupboards, fridges, and home bars now.

That, however, is easier said than done, and stockpiling from some stores is not allowed.

If all of that hasn’t convinced you, this will:

From next week, if you order before 11AM, they’re offering same-day delivery.

Order in the morning, and crack open a sundowner – same day, people.

Dop2Door is only operating in Cape Town, but they deliver citywide, Monday to Thursday, between 9AM and 5PM.

Check here to see if your area is on their extensive list of drop-off points.

Then pop by the Dop2Door website, and browse their range of beers, spirits, wines, liqueurs, ciders, mixers, ice and more to place your order.

If they don’t stock your product, you can add it to the on-site wishlist. If they receive five wishes, they’ll stock it.

What all of this means is that stocking up on booze is now as easy as ordering a pizza.

    Hey, why not do both?

    Go on…treat yo’self.
