If a coffee company isn’t straightforward about where they source their beans, you might think twice about supporting them.

Companies that pay careful consideration to where they source their beans from, and the labour that goes into the harvesting and export of said beans, are a good bet.

Late last year we travelled to the beautiful Mt Elgon region of Uganda to source this amazing Pura Cepa Fermentation coffee from the Buzibiti Washing Station.

Pura Cepa Fermentation is part of a great green coffee innovation programme being done in the area. Pura Cepa is all about long-term sustainability, science and innovation.

It goes full-circle, with farmers receiving higher premiums, producer communities receiving higher education, land-floor regenaration, higher quality coffee and of course, a full-flavoured, socially responsible coffee in your cup.

This level of transparency is rare among producers and sellers of coffee. It’s even rarer that the owner of a company will actively visit the site where their coffee is harvested to ensure that it’s ethically sourced.

They’ve recently introduced their ‘SELECT: Uganda Buzibiti Pura Cepa Fermentation coffee‘, the first of what they “hope will be a long line of SELECT relationship coffees”.
