Mother’s Day passed us by during the national lockdown, and most moms had to settle for a phone call and a promise to celebrate later on.
Now Father’s Day is almost upon us (June 21, to save you a Google search), but things are looking a little different now that e-commerce is back in full swing, alcohol sales are allowed, and we can send things their way.
Before you head off to your favourite online store to toss yet another ‘best dad’ mug into your cart, remember that this is the guy who raised you and loved you even during your teenage years. He deserves better.
And so does your mom, so why not celebrate them together?
Rupert Wines sees you, and they understand the plight of trying to find an awesome gift for awesome parents, which is why they’ve put together a ‘Moms and Dads’ special to make things a little easier.
ForR950, you’ll get three bottles of the Optima 2015, and three bottles of the L’Ormarins Brut Rosé 2015.
You can leave them to decide who drinks what.
Some tasting notes, so that you know what you’re sending their way:
Delightful interplay of blackcurrant, cassis, violet perfume and an earthy richness. The wine feels silky, supple and smooth when first it hits the palate. Flavours of dark berry fruit, Christmas pudding, cigar box and spice then make their presence felt. Beautifully poised and balanced with neither fruit nor oak dominating. Good backbone and lithe body.
Bust some of those terms out when they’re sipping on it and you’re bound to impress.
Eye-catching faint salmon pink hue. Bubbles rise in a consistent vigorous, lively stream. Gentle berry notes on the nose – strawberry and raspberry with a slight cream and biscuit nuance. The palate is vibrant and lively with crisp berry fruit flavours – raspberries and strawberries that are still a touch tart – but deliciously so. Lovely ruby grapefruit and lime zest flavour balancing the berries. The wine is rounded, fleshy and long with a zippy, well-defined finish.
This was a personal favourite of mine when the 2OV team spent a festive afternoon tasting wine and bubbles at the Anthonij Rupert Wine Farm last year.
You have until June 30, or until stocks last, to order this deal online, and have it shipped directly to your folks’ door.
While Rupert Wines will work extra hard to ensure timely delivery, their couriers are currently under a fair bit of pressure as people stock up on their favourite winter wines.
In other words, order as soon as possible.
Then bask in the glory of being the sibling who nailed both Mother’s and Father’s Day.
