Across Cape Town and the Western Cape, gale force winds are battering the coast.

Trees have been blown over, roofs have been ripped from buildings, and anybody who parked their car along the Sea Point coastline may want to move it unless they fancy a complete foam coating free of charge.

Along the Western Cape coast, waves are reaching between six and 13 metres in size, reports TimesLIVE, and parts of the Eastern Cape coast are expecting similar swells later in the day.

Before we get to the foam party in Sea Point, News24’s Murray Williams captured this footage at Nomzamo High School in Strand, where temporary classroom structures were seen completely destroyed by the strong winds:

There’s also this, showing fallen trees in various Cape suburbs:

On Storm Report SA’s Facebook page, videos have been uploaded showing the coastline under siege.

    Let’s start here:

On the ground in Sea Point, conditions are treacherous:

If you’re feeling very brave, you can get out of the car:

    Think I’ll stay indoors, thanks.

Esa Alexander from TimesLIVE took this video:

Aron Hyman, also for TimesLIVE, with this footage:

Two people are going to be very sad when they see their cars buried beneath a mountain of sea foam in Cape Town. The storm which brought strong wave surges along the Western Cape coastline on Monday is expected to bring snow to WC, EC, and NC provinces. @TimesLIVE @SAWeatherServic pic.twitter.com/iLIKqyI0Le

If you’re wondering about the foam, this explanation via Storm Report SA:

One more video for the road:

    Stay safe, and stay indoors.

Also, spare a thought for those who will be spending this week on the street.

For as little as R12 a night, you can pay for somebody to stay at The Haven night shelter.
