Despite being more popular than ever, as we all hunker down to ride out the pandemic, television has suffered during the pandemic, as paused filming schedules and delays in production have put things on hold.

Nevertheless, the Emmy Awards are going ahead as usual.

You won’t be surprised to learn that The Handmaid’s Tale is back in the running in the drama category. If history repeats itself, Elizabeth Moss will have to bring a tote bag to cart all of the statues home again.

Then again, the series has some stiff competition this year.

Entering the running we have Disney’s The Mandalorian which rose to fame by introducing the world to the cutest thing ever to appear in a television show: Baby Yoda.

The ever-popular The Crown has also landed a nomination for ‘best drama series’.

And, notably, our very own Trevor Noah has landed no less than six nominations for The Daily Show, in the Variety Talk Series, Writing for a Variety Series, Directing for a Variety Series, Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special, Picture Editing for Variety Programming, and Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series categories.

Nicely done.
