Living in the shadow of a highly successful sibling must be tough.

Just look at how Stephen and Daniel Baldwin have struggled to crack the big time, while Alec Baldwin shines in SNL and repeatedly dishes out haymakers to paparazzi.

    Stephen and Daniel? Exactly.

I mean, there are far better examples out there, but it’s a Friday, and you get the drift.

In the case of Enola Holmes, she is the younger sibling of a fictional character, Sherlock (loosely based on a real character), but her struggle remains identifiable.

For a start, Enola is ‘alone’ backwards, which is never a good sign.

Netflix’s take on the tale, titled Enola Holmes, is summarised as follows:

When Enola Holmes—Sherlock’s teen sister—discovers her mother missing, she sets off to find her, becoming a super-sleuth in her own right as she outwits her famous brother and unravels a dangerous conspiracy around a mysterious young Lord.

Starring Millie Bobby Brown, Sam Claflin, with Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham-Carter. Directed by Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag).

This one is slated as an action-comedy, and will be released on September 23.

    Let’s see that trailer:

Fun fact – this movie hasn’t been without controversy, as CNN reports:

In June, the estate of “Sherlock Holmes” author Arthur Conan Doyle sued Netflix, among others, over the film, arguing that the show’s depiction of Sherlock Holmes as kind, caring and respectful of women is a violation of the author’s copyright.

The film is based on a series of novels by Nancy Springer, who created the character of Enola, but Conan Doyle’s estate argued that Sherlock was only ever kind and emotional in books that are still under the author’s copyright.

In earlier works, now in the public domain, his aloofness and lack of empathy are crucial aspects of his character and must be respected in any adaptation, the estate claimed.

I find the fact that the estate sued Netflix because Sherlock was actually a douche rather amusing.

How dare you make him out to be a decent human, you monsters!

    That lawsuit is ongoing.

While we’re here, let’s also look at the most recent trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, which debuted at DC Comics’ FanDome event.

According to The Verge, we see Wonder Woman take on Cheetah, a new villain played by Kristen Wiig, for the first time.

The film’s release date has been changed several times, but October 2 now looks set in stone.

    Roll tape:

    OK, that’s a wrap.

Looks like it could be a weekend best spent indoors, so enjoy whatever you’re watching.
