Following events that played out in Limpopo on August 7, footage emerged of a man driving a truck recklessly around a parking lot, crashing into what appears to be municipal vehicles.
SAPS was on the scene trying to contain the situation.
As reported by The Citizen, it appeared as if the man was enraged by a work-related matter, although at the time this had not been confirmed by the Polokwane Municipality.
A second video shows the truck, now stationary having crashed into a wall, with the man wounded and trapped inside, begging the officer walking towards the truck to “shoot him in the head” in Sesotho. An officer then fires a shot directly at him.
Before you watch the videos, you should know that the footage could be upsetting for some viewers:

SAPS is defending the actions of the officer, pointing blame at the man, who had displayed violent behaviour on the day that the events played out.
Since the incident took place, following which the man was arrested, he has been identified as Walter Madubanya, a former municipal employee.
Police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe told News24 that he was allegedly in possession of a deadly weapon.
He also drove over a member of municipal law enforcement several times, seriously injuring him. The officer later died.
Madubanya is facing charges of murder and malicious damage to property.
