Things are really heating up in Jozi following a massive fire at a compost plant in Diepsloot.

Sorry, it’s been a long day.

Terrible puns aside, the fire, which broke out this morning (Wednesday, September 30) at around 6AM, quickly grew to extreme heights and temperatures, causing the closure of Summit Road west, going towards the R511.

Motorists were advised to take a different route, says TimesLIVE.

    Probably for the best.

Thankfully no injuries or deaths have been reported and firefighters were on the scene in record time to get a handle on things.

It’s quite the blaze, though, evident in videos captured by people in and around the area:

Verskriklik rof just about sums it up.

According to EWN, Joburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says that the fire is under control, and that “the cause of the fire is still the subject of investigations”.

Drivers should expect a 30-minute delay if they’re passing through on their way home from work.
