Recommending series and movies is a bit of a minefield, because everybody has their own tastes and preferences, but any true-crime fan worth their salt should give Mindhunter a watch.
Tragically, it appears there will not be a third season, but it’s still worth watching the first two on Netflix.
Meanwhile, Emily in Paris and other such piles of garbage will continue to be greenlit for new seasons.
Whilst I’m bleak about the Mindhunter news, I’m softening the blow by marking down HBO’s new serial killer documentary, Crazy, Not Insane, as one to look out for.
Directed by Oscar-winner Alex Gibney (he won in 2008 for Taxi to the Dark Side), the documentary profiles Dorothy Otnow Lewis, a veteran psychiatrist who has studied various infamous murderers.
More from IndieWire:
Her research includes videotaped death row interviews and examines the formative experiences and neurological dysfunction of such infamous murderers as Arthur Shawcross and Ted Bundy. Her work challenges the very notion of evil, proposing that murderers are made, not born.
To the trailer, we go:
I’m not the only one getting some very strong Mindhunter vibes from that trailer – see here and here.
HBO has set the release date as November 18.
