It’s the age of the digital nomad as people travel to different parts of the world but keep their jobs back home, made possible by the rise in companies that have adopted remote working.

If you really want to embrace the nomadic lifestyle, you can move from city to city, renting new spots in each one to set up shop.

For the wealthy, however, you might want to kill two birds with one stone, by buying the perfect spot to pop open your laptop, while investing in some sought-after property.

The second option is going to make it easier to travel.

If Spain, France, or Switzerland grabs your attention and you have around R50 million stored away, here’s the sort of thing that you could snap up in each of those countries, according to Forbes.

    Paris, France

The sunny light-filled room that you see above is in an apartment located in Paris’ Notre-Dame-des-Champs district, an area named for the historic Roman Catholic church that you’ll find there.

It features four bedrooms, a sizeable entrance hall, built-in bookshelves and storage, a working fireplace, a lounge, dining room, and separate kitchen.

Some stunning details round off the mid-twentieth century architecture.

Two of the four bedrooms have their own entrance with an elevator and separate bathroom facilities.

    Godella, Valencia, Spain

This modern villa can be found in Godella’s Campovilar, a luxury development located roughly 40km from the city of Valencia.

Also in the development, you’ll find a luxury castle home to 2 500 residents.

The home is designed for indoor and outdoor living, with four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, breakfast room, and more than 3 200 square feet of curated living space flooded with light from wrap-around windows.

    Suchy, Vaud, Switzerland

The contemporary chalet-style residence is located in the village of Suchy, in the canton of Vaud with a stunning view of the Swiss Alps.

It boasts seven bedrooms and five bathrooms, with an open floorplan on the first floor, incorporating a living room, dining room, and chef’s kitchen in the common area.

Further features include high ceilings, angled beams, a working fireplace, a large skylight and a wrought iron staircase.

I would happily take any of the above.

There’s just the small issue of where to get R50 million.
