Without taking too long a stroll down memory lane, we’ll diplomatically say that 2oceansvibe and Chris von Ulmenstein have a chequered history.
We aren’t alone on that front, and some restaurateurs have gone as far as to ban Von Ulmenstein from entering their establishments.
But 2021 is all about letting bygones be bygones, and the author of SwitchBitch: My journey of transformation from Sour to Sweet continues to keep her readers busy on her blog, Whale Tales.
She’s even made an appearance on Carte Blanche, in a segment that actually aired late last year, taking a closer look at the South African Butler Academy:
From cigar clipping to flower arrangement, how to handle dignitaries and give a good haircut – serving as a butler in a private home, hotel or cruise liner could be an exciting career choice.

Carte Blanche investigates why one Cape Town-based butler academy has raised some ire.
Let’s watch this one unfold, and enjoy Derek Watts with quite the intro to Von Ulmenstein (from the 2:10 mark):
Von Ulmenstein detailed her appearance on Carte Blanche in a lengthy blog post here.
In response to the segment, the SA Butler Academy issued this statement.
If you really want to go down the wormhole, here’s the SA Butler Academy blog post from back in the day that escalated the feud between the two parties.
