It’s time to face the facts.
For those still relying on an ADSL connection at home, you may want to make the switch to Fibre sooner rather than later.
In parts of the country, more and more copper cable infrastructure is being removed, and Fibre is becoming increasingly widespread.
Soon, that weird buffering you’ve grown accustomed to over the years will be obsolete and you’ll have to adapt to a world of lag-free gaming, buffer-free online videos, a clear reliable connection, and ridiculously fast upload and download speeds.
Doesn’t sound that bad, does it?
The first step to making your life easier is learning a bit about how to get connected.
As MyBroadband points out, one of the things that most confuses folks is the difference between an ISP and Fibre.
Fibre uses optic cables to transmit data. A Fibre provider lays down extensive networks across the country to allow for internet connectivity.
An ISP or Internet Service Provider is a business that provides what is known as ‘last mile services’. In other words, it’s the parent company that makes sure that you get connected to the aforementioned fibre.
For example, RSAWEB (ISP) is running a number of great deals at the moment, like this one with Octotel (Fibre provider):
In another great deal, if you order Frogfoot Fibre, you’ll get double the speed, free.
Getting started is easy:
They will handle the admin, including setup, so that you can sit back, relax, and watch Netflix buffer-free.
If you need a final push to make the switch, keep in mind that you will no longer have to pay for a Telkom landline to stay connected, and thus never have to deal with Telkom again.
If only for that, it’s worth it.
