Lizards are working hard out there. Some assist with mental illnesses, whilst others are in the business of entertainment.
A giant monitor lizard just went viral after it was filmed climbing the shelves of a 7-Eleven in Thailand.
NBC News reports that the recording was made by a person named Narumpa Tangsin in Nakhon Pathom, a town just outside Bangkok:
A store employee called the police who then brought reptile handlers to catch the Godzilla-esque creature.
The handlers dragged the lizard out of the store and lured it towards a nearby brush.
Asian water monitor lizards tend to be shy, but they can rip into you with sharp claws (and possibly venom) if they feel threatened and can’t escape.
Shoppers squeal in horror and delight as the lizard climbs the shelves… with unexpected ease for a giant lizard, I must say.
Without further ado, here’s the video:
It is not really known why the lizard decided a top shelf at a 7-Eleven was a good place to chill as they are more at home in the humidity of canals and ponds.
Hopefully, that is where it now resides, rather than wedged between goods at the local store.
