Rolls-Royce’s new 19-foot cabriolet, the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, is incredibly over the top.
And so it should be, since it is being dubbed the world’s most expensive new car.
It’s inspired by the $13 million Rolls-Royce Sweptail from 2017, but is far more complex and includes fantastical custom features, as per Robb Report.
The title of most expensive new car currently resides with Bugatti’s La Voiture Noire, which sold for a reported $18,7 million after taxes, but this is believed to cost a cool $28,3 million.
The deep ocean blue streamlined automobile has a nautical theme and a built-in picnic set-up.
As quaint as that sounds, the details are much bolder. There’s a custom champaign cooler, a set of crockery by Christofle of Paris matched to salt and pepper grinders, an onboard fridge with various food compartments, and a parasol slot for extra shade.
The car is also provided with a detachable carbon fibre roof that turns the Rolls into a breathtaking coupe.

The automobile is said to be one of three different Boat Tail versions that have recently been hand-built as custom commissions, this one for a mystery man and his wife, who are both believed to be in the music industry.
There’s a chance that’s Beyoncé and Jay-Z, but it hasn’t been confirmed.
Nothing says expensive like exclusivity and secrecy.

Oh, and there’s a custom Boat Tail clock included, with a slot for a set of reversible “his and hers” watches for the couple who own the car.
The clock was designed alongside Swiss-based House of Bovet with the client in mind, with one side of the men’s watch showing a celestial pattern above his birthplace:
“One of the great characteristics of piloting a Rolls-Royce is the light steering and thin steering wheel,” notes Alex Innes, the head of the marque’s Coachbuild Design department.
“This particular client likes to remove his wristwatch when driving and hated the idea that it would be stowed out of sight.”

Likewise, the champagne cooler was specifically designed to fit bottles of the owner’s favourite Armand de Brignac vintage:

All of the Christofle of Paris crockery is engraved with the car’s name:

From the front, the Rolls-Royce pantheon grille replaces the traditional stainless-steel finish for the first time in the modern era, but it is the hand-painted Azur bluebonnet that is the most eye-catching:

This project took a whole four years to develop.
Unimaginable, really.
